Meet Jessacorona Cash

Jessie was raised by me and has had solid groundwork from day one. At 3 years old, she spent several months with reining trainer Bubba Cannon to get her broke in the bridle, flexible through her poll, and moving her shoulders and hips correctly. Once I introduced the barrel pattern and started adding speed, I sent her to reining trainer Thiago Sobral in Montgomery County, Texas, to keep her light, responsive, and working correctly through her turns. Having that reining foundation combined with years of consistent fundamental work at home has kept her soft, light-mouthed, and adjustable. Jessie is a smart, athletic, and highly sensitive mare with a deep, solid foundation. She is light on her feet, soft in the bridle, touch-sensitive, and deeply in tune with her rider. Around people, she is responsive and respects a quiet, confident handler. Because she is a high-energy mare, she can get excited or spook in new situations much like a younger horse, and she handles unfamiliar environments best with a patient, structured handler. Despite being 14, she has exceptionally low miles and zero heavy pounding on her legs and joints. Over the years, my focus has been on steady, consistent fundamental work and maintaining her calm, responsive mindset so she remains enjoyable to ride outside the arena—not just around the barrels. She knows her pattern inside and out and does not need to be ran over and over to know her job; she is completely automatic. Her athletic ability has simply surpassed mine at this point, and I am no longer comfortable running her at her full speed. Following a breast cancer diagnosis a year ago and ongoing surgeries ahead, my priorities have shifted entirely to my health and family. Because of this, she is ready for someone to take over, give her the hauling and seasoning she needs, and let her shine. She is best suited for an experienced, soft-handed rider who will give her a thorough, patient warm-up, get out of her way, and let her work without fighting down the alley.
